Hawaii, a laboratory between science and tradition?

In this fourth episode of Expedition Aloha, we take a look at three exciting experiences: entering a kīpuka, stopping off at Mauna Kea, then crossing the great plains of the northern Big Island on horseback. A variety of volcanic landscapes await! 🌋

In the middle of flows of different ages (including the pāhoehoe), light green patches appear: kīpuka that escaped the lava. In just a few steps, you pass from bare basalt to a mature forest "as it was before the flow": time capsules of biodiversity that testify to the resilience of island ecosystems🌱

A stopover at Mauna Kea, a moment suspended between volcanoes and clouds. 🌥️

We discover this important place, not only for its far-flung scientific discoveries, but also for its local culture and traditions.

Cowboy atmosphere in the great northern prairies: ranches present since 1850, pastures usually swept by the wind, sheep, cattle and horses. Today, there's a lull in the weather: we're taking the opportunity to explore these very different landscapes and understand how people use them 💨🌀📡
